Admission Requirements

Islamic Studies Master of Islamic Studies
  • Jurisprudence (Fiqh) and its Fundamentals
  • Creed
  • Sunnah and its Sciences
  1. Applicant must hold a bachelor’s degree in Islamic studies from King Saud University or any university accredited by Ministry of Education with a minimum of a “Very Good” (3.75/5) GPA or equivalent.
  2. Applicant must be memorizing five parts (juz’) of the holy Qur’an.
  3. Passing a written examination held by the department.
  4. Distance or online learning is not accepted whatsoever.
PhD in Islamic Studies

  2.  Applicant must hold a master’s degree (in the same program applied for: Jurisprudence and its Fundamentals, Creed, or Sunnah and its Sciences) from King Saud University or any university accredited by Ministry of Education with a minimum of a “Very Good” (3.75/5) GPA or equivalent.
  3.  Memorization of 10 parts (juz’) of the holy Qur’an.
  4. Passing a written examination held by the department.

Psychology Master of Arts in Psychology:Counselling Psychology

  1. Applicant must hold a bachelor’s degree in psychology from King Saud University or any university accredited by Ministry of Education with a minimum of a “Very Good” (3.75/5) GPA, GPA, or equivalent.
  2. Applicant must have a 1-year experience in psychology; demonstrators are exempted from this requirement.
  3. Passing a written examination held by the department.

  1. Applicant must hold a bachelor’s degree in psychology from King Saud University or any university accredited by Ministry of Education with a minimum of a “Very Good” (3.75/5) GPA or equivalent, taking into account the following:
    • Applicant holding a bachelor’s degree in social service or sociology (the Social Psychology track) may be accepted.
    • Applicant holding a bachelor’s degree in mathematics or statistics (the Measurement and Evaluation track) may be accepted.
  2. Applicant must hold a master’s degree in psychology from King Saud University or any university accredited by Ministry of Education with a minimum of a “Very Good” (3.75/5) GPA or equivalent.
  3. A score of at least 500 in the TOEFL-PBT test or equivalent; the department may accept a score between 466-499 or equivalent, provided that the student must study a complementary course in academic English.
  4. Applicant must have a 1-year experience in psychology; demonstrators and lecturers are exempted from this requirement
  5. Passing a written examination held by the departmentز

Master of Arts in Education: Curriculum and Instruction TESOL

Teaching English for Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL)

  1. Applicant must hold an educational bachelor’s degree or a non-educational bachelor’s degree from King Saud University or any university accredited by Ministry of Education with a minimum of a “Good” (2.75 / 5) GPA or equivalent, provided that the GPA of the specialty courses at the bachelor’s stage is at least “Very Good” (3.75 / 5) GPA or equivalent.
  2. Applicant holding a bachelor’s degree in relevant tracks may be accepted.
  3. A score of at least 6 in the IELTS Academic test or equivalent.
  4. Passing a written examination held by the department.

Curriculum and Instruction in Islamic Sciences

  1. Applicant must hold a bachelor’s degree in Islamic studies from King Saud University or any university accredited by Ministry of Education with a minimum of a “Very Good” (3.75/5) GPA or equivalent.
  2.  Applicant must hold a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction in Islamic Sciences from King Saud University or any university accredited by Ministry of Education with a minimum of a “Very Good” (3.75/5) GPA or equivalent.
  3. Applicant should have at least two years of teaching experience; teaching assistants and lecturers are exempted from this requirement.
  4. Passing a written examination held by the department.
  5. Distance or online learning is not accepted whatsoever.

Education Technology

Master of Arts in Teaching Techniques

Teaching Techniques

  1. Applicant must hold a bachelor’s degree in an educational discipline or a non-educational discipline from King Saud University or any university accredited by Ministry of Education with a minimum of a “Very Good” (3.75/5) GPA or equivalent.
  2. Applicants holding a bachelor’s degree in scientific disciplines (science, computer, etc.) with a minimum of an “Above Average” (3.25/5) GPA or equivalent. may be accepted.
  3. Passing a written examination held by the department.
  4. Distance or online learning is not accepted whatsoever.
PhD in Teaching Techniques

Teaching Techniques

  1. Applicant must hold a full-time master’s degree in field of instructional technology from KSU or any university accredited by Ministry of Education with a minimum of a “Very Good” (3.75/5) GPA, or equivalent.
  2. A score of at least 53 in the TOEFL-IBT test or equivalent.
  3. Passing a written examination held by the department.

Art Education

  1. Applicant must hold an educational bachelor’s degree or a non-educational bachelor’s degree along with an educational diploma in relevant disciplines from KSU or any university accredited by Ministry of Education with a minimum of an “Above Average” (3.25/5) GPA  or equivalent in both the bachelor’s degree and the educational diploma, provided that applicant’s GPA of the specialty courses is at least “Very Good” (3.75/5) or equivalent; for relevant disciplines, the applicant must refer to the concerned department before starting the application process on the electronic portal.
  2. Passing a written examination held by the department.
  3. Distance or online learning is not accepted whatsoever.

PhD in Art Education

Art Education

  1. Applicant must hold an educational bachelor’s degree or a non-educational bachelor’s degree along with an educational diploma in relevant disciplines from KSU or any university accredited by Ministry of Education with a minimum of an “Above Average” (3.25/5) GPA  or equivalent, in both the bachelor’s degree and the educational diploma, provided that applicant’s GPA of the specialty courses is at least “Very Good” (3.75/5) GPA or equivalent; for relevant disciplines, the applicant must refer to the concerned department before starting the application process on the electronic portal.
  2. Applicant must hold a master’s degree in art education or arts and design from KSU or any university accredited by Ministry of Education with a minimum of a “Very Good” (3.75/5) GPA or equivalent.
  3. Passing a written examination held by the department.

  1. Applicant must hold a bachelor’s degree in special education or a bachelor’s degree in another discipline along with a diploma in special education from KSU or any university accredited by Ministry of Education with a minimum of an “Very Good” (3.75/5) GPA or equivalent in both the bachelor’s degree and the educational diploma.
  2.  The program applied for must be similar to the bachelor’s degree discipline or that of the diploma in special education.
  3. Passing a written examination held by the department.
  4. Distance or online learning is not accepted whatsoever.

  1. Applicant must hold a bachelor’s degree in special education or a bachelor’s degree in another discipline along with a diploma in special education from KSU or any university accredited by Ministry of Education with a minimum of an “Very Good” (3.75/5) GPA or equivalent in both the bachelor’s degree and the educational diploma.
  2. Applicant must hold a master’s degree in special education from KSU or any university accredited by Ministry of Education with a minimum of an “Very Good” (3.75/5) GPA or equivalent.
  3.  The program applied for must be similar to the master’s degree discipline or that of the diploma in special education.
  4.  Applicant must hold any of the following degrees:
    •  A bachelor’s degree in special education and a master’s degree in special education.

    • A bachelor’s degree in special education and a master’s degree in education, psychology, or social service, provided that the dissertation addresses special education topic.

    •  A bachelor’s degree in another specialty with a diploma in special education and a master in special education.

  5. Passing a written examination held by the department.
  6. Distance or online learning is not accepted whatsoever.

Qur’anic Studies

Master of Arts in Qur’anic Recitations

Qur’anic Recitations

  1. Applicant must hold a bachelor’s degree in a Sharia related discipline from KSU or any university accredited by Ministry of Education with a minimum of an “Above Average” (3.25/5) GPA or equivalent, provided that applicant’s GPA of the specialty courses at the bachelor’s stage is at least “Very Good” (3.75/5) or equivalent.
  2.  Mastering the seven Qur’anic readings collectively or individually.
  3. Passing a written examination held by the department.
  4. Distance or online learning is not accepted whatsoever.
Master of Arts in Tafseer (Qur'anic Interpretation)

Tafseer (Qur'anic Interpretation)

  1. Applicant must hold a bachelor’s degree in a Sharia related discipline from KSU or any university accredited by Ministry of Education with a minimum of an “Very Good” (3.75/5) GPA or equivalent.
  2.  Memorization of five parts (juz’) of the holy Qur’an.
  3. Passing a written examination held by the department.
